Dear Mr. Goldin,
We have read with dismay the September 14/1995 AVIATION
DAILY (copy enclosed) which suggests that NASA is going to additionally
fund the McDonnell Douglas Corporation blended wing body research
project.
This suggestion apparently involves the Burnelli Lifting Body design
which McDonnell Douglas pirated, as per our complaint to you of March
29, 1995. Therefore, the Burnelli Company wishes to register a strong
protest.
As you have seen in the previously supplied documents, including the
photographic comparison, the McDonnell Douglas
BWB is a direct steal from the 1951 Burnelli model right down to the
patented engine installation.
We have offered a licensing agreement both to NASA and McDonnell Douglas
to use our patent, proprietary and intellectual property rights, but we
have not received any favorable response. Therefore, we respectfully request
that no BWB funding be granted by NASA to McDonnell Douglas until such
an agreement is negotiated with the Burnelli Company, Inc.
Thank you for your urgent attention to this matter.
Yours sincerely,
[signed]
CHALMERS H. GOODLIN
